San Antonio, Texas - Larrissa Williams scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Tulsa for her 22nd career double-double, but UTSA claimed a 63-54 victory on Monday night at the UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Golden Hurricane fell to 4-9 on the season, while the Roadrunners moved to 7-6 overall.
Tiffani Couisnard had a personal-best eight points, and added five boards and had two steals, while Chanel Johnson and ReShawndra Jackson totaled seven points apiece in the contest.
The first half was a tight ball game, as Jackson started the game with a three-pointer with just 21 seconds ticked off the clock, but Ryba Pawlaczyk hit her first of three trey's seconds later to tie the game. The first half saw five lead changes and six tied scores, and the Roadrunners entered the break with a 32-31 advantage.
The second half had four more lead changes and three more tied scores, but the Roadrunners inched ahead in the final 10 minutes to a game-high, 11-point lead with just 13 seconds left on the clock.
Tulsa shot 39-percent from the field, compared to the Roadrunner's 33-percent, but UTSA hit 13 of 31 three-point attempts. TU also out-rebounded UTSA, 45-30, but had 26 turnovers in the game.
UTSA was led by Amber Gregg who scored 25 points, including six three-pointers. Monica Gibbs and Pawlaczyk also scored in double digits with 12 and 11 respectively.
Tulsa will return to action at home this Thursday, Jan. 8th against East Carolina. Game time is tentatively set for 7:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, but check TulsaHurricane.com for a final game time.
