Columbia, S.C. -
The 23rd-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team battled South Carolina to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at the Stone Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. TU moved to 7-3-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in Conference USA, while the Gamecocks moved to 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the league.
"We were a little sloppy on our possession and our concentration could have been better, but overall our guys were patient and did a good job," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We just kept battling and we created a lot of chances in overtime, but we just couldn't get a second goal."
Bryan Lowder put SC on the board in the 76th minute on a penalty kick, but with just eight seconds left in regulation Ashley McInnes scored on his only shot of the day to force overtime. Sidney Stewart and goalkeeper Andy Aguilar earned assists on McInnes' goal. Both teams battled it out in overtime, but the game ended in a draw.
Jose Parada led the Golden Hurricane attack with five shots, while Joe Salem attempted three shots and Hunter Christiansen had two attempts. Aguilar logged all 110 minutes in goal and picked up seven saves.
