• Tulsa game captains were G.J. Kinne and Mike Bryan.
• True freshman Dexter McCoil made his first career start at the free safety position.
• DeAundre Brown recorded his first career fumble recovery at the 8:34 mark of the first quarter.
• Junior A.J. Whitmore threw his first career touchdown pass to Damaris Johnson at the 8:25 mark of the first quarter. It was his first pass attempt of the season. Whitmore was previously two of nine for 46 yards. It was his 16th career touchdown (10 rushing, five receiving, one passing).
• Damaris Johnson had the fourth longest play of the season with a 53-yard touchdown reception. He now has the four longest plays for Tulsa this season including a 73-yard kickoff return vs. Rice, a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown against Tulane and a 63-yard touchdown reception against Sam Houston State.
• Junior Trae Johnson caught his team-leading sixth touchdown of the season at the 0:16 mark of the first quarter. It was Johnson's 22nd career receiving touchdown and ties him for 13th on the C-USA all-time chart with Jeff Moturi (UTEP/2006-08) and Todd Pinkston (USM/1996-99).
• Tulsa's 140 yards of total offense in the first quarter was the most gained this season. The previous season high for a first quarter was against Sam Houston State (139 yards).
• Tanner Antle recovered his first fumble of the season at the 7:14 mark of the 2nd quarter. It was his third career fumble recovery, with his other two coming during the 2008 season.
• Prior to the 55-yard touchdown pass from G.J. Kinne to Slick Shelly, Tulsa had totaled just four yards on nine plays in the second half. The touchdown drive was four plays for 89 yards.
• Tonight's attendance was 30,000 (sellout). It was the third sellout in nine home games since the renovation last year.
