Tulsa Head Coach Todd Graham
Opening Statement...
"This one hurt because we wanted this one pretty bad. If anything, we weren't outplayed, we were outcoached. It was a pretty good chess match. We made adjustments and they made adjustments. I thought our boys played great and they battled hard against a great team. We have a lot of young and inexperienced players, and I think they played great tonight and battled hard. I really thought we would win at half-time."
"This was the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at TU. I'm really proud of our fans."
"If there's one thing I could take back, it would be that fourth down play call that allowed them to get the field goal. It's a play that we watched on film and would have worked, but they shifted at the last minute. It was a bad play call."
Does this loss hurt your confidence?
"No, our boys battled hard. This is the highest ranked team we've played. They are a great team, and they have one of the best offenses in the nation, they are really explosive. We fought and battled hard."
On the defensive effort...
"This is the best defense I've been associated with since I've been at Tulsa. We have a lot of young guys, and they played well."
Response after the last fourth down pass...
"G.J. is a strong leader, and we believe in him. You haven't seen how good [G.J.] is because he's been running for his life for the last four weeks. After the game in the locker room, Mike Bryan called G.J. up to the front [of the room]. He is the leader of this team, and he is strong."
Boise State Head Coach Chris Petersen
Opening Statement...
"We probably let them hang around too long, but you have to give Tulsa credit. They have good players and guys that can get behind you in a hurry. We had a little miscommunication out there and that's what the no-huddle can sometimes do to you. In an offense like that, they will strike quick."
"We are really pleased with our guys and how hard they played. We knew that this was going to be a dogfight two years ago when they came onto our schedule. I think our defense did a really remarkable job if you take away two plays. We were good on third and fourth downs on defense. They did a nice job containing the quarterback that can really run and we were harassing them all night."
On defensive line play...
"I think that this one of their better outings. We needed to get pressure on them because with their style of offense, they like to hold the ball and let the receivers get down the field. They will take shots and you saw them do that when we gave them too much time. It was a good effort. We rotated eight guys and we were able to get pressure."
On the ability to put teams away...
"We will go back and rack our brains on that and figure out a way to do that. Usually, that comes down to the running game but I thought we ran the ball well tonight. I thought the offensive line played well and the backs did a good job for the most part.
"It would have been nice to hit a deep pass down the line to kind of give us some breathing room. A lot of credit goes to Tulsa for how they played, but we will keep fighting and keep working and maybe we will get ourselves some breathing room."
