Tulsa Women's Basketball Team Hosts Memphis This Sunday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa (6-17, 2-9 C-USA) women's basketball team returns home after a three-game road swing to host Memphis (9-15, 2-9 C-USA) this Sunday, February 15th beginning at 2:00 p.m. CST at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU will be hosting its "Think Pink" day, so fans wearing pink will be admitted free. Also, the first 250 fans will receive pink pom-poms and a pink drawstring backpack.
Larrissa Williams is averaging nearly a double-double for TU, as she tallies 14.7 ppg and 9.4 rpg, while Kara Vaughan posts 7.9 ppg and Chanel Johnson scores 6.9 ppg. Williams has a team-best 50 blocks, while ReShawndra Jackson and Tatum Beer each have 35 steals and Beer leads Tulsa in assists with 55.
The Golden Hurricane ranks among the league's top teams when it comes to rebounding and blocked shots this season. TU is third in offensive rebounds with 15.48 per game and seventh in defensive rebounds with 25.17 per game. Tulsa is also second in blocks per game, as 10 players have combined for 109 blocks on the year for 4.74 bpg.
The Tigers will be led by Paris Leonard who is averaging 17.0 ppg, and Ashley Thornton who posts 10.5 ppg and a team-best 8.5 rpg. Leonard also has a team-high 56 steals, while Alex Winchell leads Memphis in assists with 68 and Savannah Ellis has a team-best 33 blocks.
This will be the sixth meeting between the two schools, with Tulsa owning a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Golden Hurricane won the last meeting, an 85-63 victory in the first round of the Conference USA Championship last year.
