Tulsa Women's Basketball Team Hosts UTEP This Thursday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa (7-19, 3-11 C-USA) women's basketball team returns home to take on UTEP (17-10, 10-4 C-USA) this Thursday, February 26th. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Larrissa Williams will be leading TU, as she averages nearly a double-double this season with 15.7 ppg and 9.6 rpg, and adds 2.23 blocks per game. Her blocks and rebounds per game are 28th and 30th, respectively, in the nation. Kara Vaughan and Chanel Johnson post 7.5 ppg and 6.8 ppg, respectively, while Tatum Beer has a team-high 60 assists and ReShawndra Jackson owns 41 steals.
Williams will be looking to break the 1,000-point barrier, as she has recorded 999 points in 87 games played at TU. She will be just the seventh women's player in school history to reach 1,000 points, following Jillian Robbins (2,108), Kasie Pittman (1,322), Lila Osceola (1,301), Megan Moody (1,122), Carla Morrow (1,113) and Leela Farr (1,089).
The Miners come to Tulsa on a five-game winning streak, including a 105-87 win over Southern Miss in their last contest. Jareica Hughes, Timika Williams and Dietra Caldwell are all averaging double digits this season, with 13.9 ppg, 10.3 ppg and 10.2 ppg, respectively.
This will be the 22nd meeting in the all-time series, with the Miners leading the series 11-10. UTEP won the first match up this season, a 68-60 win in El Paso, Texas.
The 2009 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship is set to get underway on March 5-8 in New Orleans. For the past 13 years the league has awarded the championship trophy to eight different outstanding teams.
