TULSA, Okla. (AP)--Jerome Jordan scored a career-high 28 points as Tulsa downed Central Florida 79-70, maintaining at least a share of second place in Conference USA with one game remaining.

Senior Ray Reese added 16 points in his final regular season home game as Tulsa moved to 11-4 and 21-9 overall. Jermaine Taylor poured in 29 points for the Knights, 6-9 and 16-13, who lost their fourth consecutive game and seventh in their last eight, with the only win a home victory over Tulsa in which they erased a 17-point deficit. UCF trailed by as many as 12 in this one and again tried to rally, but the 7-foot Jordan had an answer each time. After the Knights pulled within 67-63, Jordan tipped in a missed shot, then made a towering slam dunk off an assist from Glenn Andrews to give TU a 71-63 lead with 2:45 to play. He dunked again off a miss by Ben Uzoh to make it 73-63 with 1:15 to play, giving Tulsa enough of a cushion to survive some shaky free throw shooting, including five consecutive misses in the final two minutes. Tulsa fans serenaded the junior with chants of "One more year," in the final minutes. "Jerome is blessed with phenomenal hands," said Tulsa coach Doug Wojcik. "Some of the passes we made to him were not the best, but he catches them and makes plays over the top." Bishop Wheatley had nine points and 10 rebounds for Tulsa, which outrebounded the Knights 36-25. Tulsa shot 52 percent from the field while UCF converted at 45.3 percent. A.J. Tyler scored 14 points and Isaac Sosa added 11, including knocking in 3 of 4 3-pointers for UCF. Tulsa made 15 of 18 free throws in claiming a 36-26 lead at the half. UCF did not make it to the line in the first half, but made 16 of 21 in the second stanza.
