The University of Tulsa's 25th-ranked and sixth-seeded men's soccer team tamed the third-seeded Kentucky Wildcats on Wednesday night, recording a 5-0 win in the Conference USA Championship quarterfinals at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tenn. The Golden Hurricane moved to 10-5-2 on the season, the fourth-straight season for TU with double-digit wins, while UK fell to 7-8-4 overall.

"I thought we played with a lot of concentration tonight," Tulsa Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "Kentucky played very well in the first 15 minutes, but we countered and got an early goal. In the second half, Kentucky pushed forward and the game opened up. We took our chances exceptionally well and that was a big key to the game. We are pleased to be moving on and are looking forward to our next challenge in UCF on Friday."

Ashley McInnes scored the game-winner at the 14:18 mark off a low cross from Matt Boullt, as TU would take a 1-0 advantage into the break. In the second half, Corey Albertson knocked in a goal in the 56th minute after Austin Neil controlled the ball in the box. Twenty minutes later, Albertson crossed the ball to Omar Mata at the far post, and then Blaine Gonsalves scored off a pass from Albertson in the 79th minute. Jon Wright scored the final goal of the night off a pass from Adrian Klammer at the 86:30 mark.

McInnes had a team-best four shots, including three on goal, while Mata and Gonsalves attempted two shots each. Ray Clark logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up eight saves and the shutout.

The Wildcats outshot Tulsa, 17-13, but TU held a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal. UK also had a 7-3 lead in corner kicks.

TU will continue its run in the C-USA Championship against 16th-ranked and second-seeded UCF beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12th.
