Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team will host Cameron in an exhibition contest on Saturday, Nov. 6th beginning at 7:05 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. There is no charge for admission for the TU-CU contest.
Fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item or monetary donation for the Conference USA Student Athlete Advisory Committee Changing Lives Program that will benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
TU, which finished the season with a 12-16 overall record last season, returns nine letterwinners, including three starters, to this season's team.
Taleya Mayberry is the Golden Hurricane's returning scoring leader, as she averaged 12.1 points per game, and had a team-best 89 assists and 64 steals. Mayberry was just coming into stride at the end of last season as she posted a career-best 27 points against Southern Miss and had three other personal-bests in February. Mayberry was named to the Conference USA's all-Freshman team in 2009-10.
Chanice Scott, one of only two returners to have started all 28 games last year, averaged 6.0 points and 3.6 rebounds, and posted 26 steals and 26 assists, while Jermaine Kermis registered the second-most assists (76) and steals (46), and posted averages of 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.
The Aggies tallied a 9-18 overall record and were led by Josie Stewart with 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last year. Alexis Williams tallied the third most points with 9.4 ppg, while the other five returns averaged a combined 10.2 ppg.
The Golden Hurricane will take to the court for the season opener against Emporia State, the Division II National Champions from a year ago, on Nov. 13th. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds Center.
