Tulsa Earns Two Bronze Medals at Head of the Hooch

Chattanooga, Tenn. - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team earned two bronze medals on the final day of competition at the Head of the Hooch regatta on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Golden Hurricane concluded the fall season and will return to competition this spring.
"I thought we rowed pretty well today and bringing home two medals is an accomplishment," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "I think we are a really good team and the results show we had a solid weekend. We raced with a lot of style and aggressiveness, and we learned a lot, which will help us compete in the spring. The team is eager to start training to help make us faster."
Heather Brooks, a senior from Moorestown, N.J., captured a bronze medal in the Lightweight 1x as she turned in a time of 20:52.5 for third place. Carla Horne was fifth with a time of 21:03.7 and Catharine Brierre was 10th in a time of 23:45.3.
The Golden Hurricane Open 8+ also finished third for a bronze medal, tallying a time of 16:28.0. This was the second-straight year that the TU Open 8+ claimed a bronze medal at this regatta.
Tulsa raced seven Pairs, as Allyson Brooks and Meredith Papps turned in the best finish for the Hurricane, a fourth-place time of 19:46.5. Other TU Pairs included Alaina Ferraro and Amanda Urquhart (15th - 19:54.9), Hannah Bogan and Puja Sztorc (17th - 19:57.1), Carlyn Schmidt and Erin Leddy (18th - 20:01.7), Rebecca Stangl and Emily Wynn (22nd - 20:40.5), Megan Fitzpatrick and Molly Selig (23rd - 20:53.5), and Kelly Hill and Anne Campbell-Ryan (26th - 21:05.4).
