El Paso, Texas - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 75-58 decision to UTEP on Sunday afternoon at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The Golden Hurricane fell to 7-13 on the season and 1-8 in Conference USA, while the Miners moved to 14-9 overall and 5-4 in the league.

Larrissa Williams had a team-leading 18 points, while Kara Vaughan also scored in double digits with 12 points. Taleya Mayberry posted eight points, four assists and three steals, and Jermaine Kermis had seven points, four assists and four steals. Tatum Beer and Teka Brooks both pulled down four rebounds.

The Golden Hurricane jumped out to a 12-5 lead with 14:04 on the clock, but the Miners scored seven-straight points to tie the contest just a little over two minutes later. TU again took a six-point advantage, but UTEP closed the gap and took the lead for the remainder of the half at the 5:35 mark. The Miners climbed to a first-half 11-point advantage before taking a 40-30 lead into the break.

In the second half, UTEP inched to a final 19-point lead for the win, out-scoring the Golden Hurricane, 35-28, in the final 20 minutes.

The Miners were led by Dietra Caldwell with a triple-double with 11 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. Anete Steinberga had a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards, while Timika Williams scored a team-best 17 points and Briana Green added 13 points.

UTEP out-rebounded Tulsa, 41-29, and had a 5-2 advantage in blocks, while both teams had 10 steals.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Feb. 12th against Houston. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
