Tulsa Women's Hoops Fall to UAB, 52-45

Tulsa seniors Larrissa Williams and Teka Brooks both scored 11 points in their final career contest as the Golden Hurricane dropped a hard-fought 52-45 decision to UAB in the first round of the 2010 GMC Sierra Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship on Monday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU concluded the season with a 12-16 overall record and a 6-10 mark in C-USA, while the Blazers post a 15-14 record on the year and an 8-8 league mark.
Brooks earned her fifth career double-double as she pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds, while Williams registered seven rebounds and three blocks. Chanice Scott added nine points.
Williams concluded her career ranking second with 1,512 points, 967 rebounds, 593 field goals, 207 blocked shots and 43 double-doubles, and fourth with 326 free throws. Brooks was sixth with 83 blocked shots.
The Blazers were led by Tamika Dukes with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Amanda Peterson also scored in double digits with 12 points.
UAB edged Tulsa, 46-43, in rebounding, while both teams had four steals.
TU shot just 28-percent from the field, 14-percent from behind the arc and 71-percent (15-21) from the free throw line.
