Three Men's Tennis Players Garner Preseason Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Three members of the University of Tulsa men's tennis team earned spots on the Campbell/ITA Division I Men's Tennis Preseason Rankings, the organization announced.

Sophomore Marcelo Arevalo tied his highest-collegiate singles ranking as he landed in the No. 34 spot. Junior Ashley Watling was right behind at No. 39, and the doubles team of Watling and freshman Clifford Marsland were ranked No. 38.

Watling's career-best ranking came Jan. 5 when he was No. 21. The last time Arevalo was ranked No. 34 was April 13.

The doubles team of Watling and Philip Stephens ended last season ranked No. 27, and no Tulsa doubles team was ranked in the preseason last year.

The first team rankings are scheduled to come out Jan. 4.

The Golden Hurricane will begin its fall campaign with a trip to Midland, Texas, Sept. 17-19 for the Midland Invitational.
