Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa's fifth-ranked men's soccer team will kick off the 2010 season at the SMU Invitational this Saturday and Monday, Sept. 4th and 6th, against Seattle and Lipscomb, respectively. TU will take on both the Redhawks and the Bisons at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas.

The Tulsa men's soccer team returns 11 letterwinners, including seven starters, and six squad members from a year ago. The Golden Hurricane concluded the 2009 season with a 15-5-2 overall record, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, and concluded the year ranked No. 7 by all five national polls. TU also earned its third-straight regular season and tournament Conference USA titles.

The Golden Hurricane faced New Mexico, Midwestern State and Oral Roberts in exhibition play in August. TU dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lobos, but topped the Mustangs, 2-0, and the Golden Eagles, 5-0. Junior-transfer Adrian Klammer and senior Ashley McInnes each tallied four goals in the early contests, while freshman Jon Wright also knocked one into the net. The Golden Hurricane combined for nine goals while allowing three, but TU registered two shutouts.

This will be just the second meeting between TU and SU as the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie last year, while this will be the first meeting between the Golden Hurricane and Lipscomb.
