Watling, Jackson Compete at OU Invite

NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Ashley Watling and junior Tristan Jackson both competed at the OU Invitational this past weekend at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
Watling, ranked No. 44 in the nation, fell in the second round to Vlad Bondarenko of Oklahoma State 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. He then won his opening match in the back draw 6-1, 6-3 over John Warden, and would fall to Manfred Jeske of Arkansas 6-4, 6-4.
Jackson lost in the opening round of the Main Draw 6-4, 6-3 to Warden. He also won his opening consolation match with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Trevor Horstmann of Oklahoma State, but went on to lose 6-4, 6-4 to Tom Blackwell of Nebraska.
Jackson played another consolation match and defeated OU's Ryan Proctor 6-3, 6-4.
The duo also played a doubles match together and defeated Nebraska's tandem of Erick Sock and Blackwell 8-3.
The Golden Hurricane will play host to the ITA Indoor Central Region Championship Oct. 21-25 at Case Tennis Center.
