Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Hosts SMU on Wednesday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer team returns home to host 20th-ranked SMU on Wednesday, Oct. 5th beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the north ticket gate. It is Broken Arrow Soccer Club Night, so players (8th grade and below) will receive free admission if they wear their jersey.

TU enters the game with a 4-5 overall record and a 0-1 mark in Conference USA, but looks to even up both records on Wednesday. Omar Mata is leading the way this season for the Golden Hurricane with three goals and three assists for nine points. Stephen Roberson has two goals and two assists for six points, and Blaine Gonsalves and Tony Rocha have four points apiece. Michael Murray has logged over 743 minutes in goal, picked up 25 saves for a 0.694 saves percentage and earned one shutout this season.
Tulsa has faced four ranked opponents this year, including No. 3 Connecticut, No. 4 Akron, No. 25 Loyola Marymount and No. 28 Dartmouth. Both the Huskies and the Zips have spent time this season ranked at the No. 1 spot. TU earned a 2-0 win over LMU, and a 3-2 victory over DU, but dropped a 1-0 decision to UConn and a 3-0 mark to Akron.
SMU is off to a 5-4 start this season, but dropped a 4-2 decision to 10th-ranked UCF to open Conference USA play last week. Arthur Ivo has a team-best nine points from two goals and five assists, while Juan Castillo has two goals and three assists for seven points. Jaime Ibarra has logged over 718 minutes in goal, picked up 32 saves and has a 1.0 goals-against average.
This will be the 35th meeting between the Hurricane and Mustangs, with SMU owning a 25-6-3 advantage in the all-time series.
