IRVING, Texas - Junior Ashley Watling was named the Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, the league announced today.

Watling helped guide the Golden Hurricane to a huge 4-3 victory at No. 12 Michigan this past week, earning a win over No. 45 Jason Jung along the way.

He defeated the highly-ranked Wolverine 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 to pick up his best win of the season, and the victory helped vault him from No. 117 in the nation to No. 68 in singles.

In doubles action, the No. 20-ranked tandem of Watling and sophomore Clifford Marsland fell 8-5 to Jung and Evan King, the No. 11-ranked duo in the nation, but Tulsa went on to capture four singles matches to claim the team's bookmark victory in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Golden Hurricane has now won eight of its last nine matches, with five wins coming over ranked opponents. Watling has been victorious in seven of those eight team triumphs.

Watling was also named the C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week last week (March 8). Tulsa has claimed six of the eight weekly laurels handed out this year, including the last four.

Freshman Japie De Klerk has earned the honor twice (Jan. 25, March 1), sophomore Marcelo Arevalo was bestowed the award on Feb. 1, and Marsland earned the nomination Feb. 22.

The Golden Hurricane will face Conference USA foe UCF today in Orlando, Fla., and Tulsa will then play USF at 11 am. March 17.
