Tulsa Women Golfers in Sixth Place at Rebel Intercollegiate

Oxford, Miss. - The Tulsa Golden Hurricane women golfers sit in sixth place following the opening 18 holes at the Rebel Intercollegiate on Friday. Tulsa carded a round of 12-over par 300 at the par-72 Ole Miss Golf Course.
The Hurricane women are just 10 shots behind the nation's 14th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols, who shot a round of two-over par 290 for first place. Host Mississippi, Maryland and Coastal Carolina are tied for second place with 298 totals, while Tulane rounds out the top-5 teams with a score of 299.
Tulsa juniors, Kamryn Ruffin and Sarah Elliot, are tied for 11th place after turning in first round scores of one-over par 73. Both golfers birdied two holes and bogeyed three holes on the day.
Fellow junior Marita Engzelius shot a four-over par round of 76 for 31st place, while sophomore Kristina Merkle and freshman Charlotte Brooks each carded rounds of 78 to tie for 52nd place.
Individually, Southern Miss' Virginia Espejo holds a three-stroke lead heading into Saturday's second round after turning in a four-under par score of 68 today.
Tournament play will continue on Saturday with 18 holes, and conclude on Sunday.
