TULSA, Okla. - The No. 30-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated No. 40 North Texas 6-1 on a chilly Friday night at Case Tennis Center.

The match was the first outdoors for the women's team this season, and it also extended TU's home win streak to 30 matches.

"Today was a good win for us. We always have tight matches with North Texas, who is one of our biggest rivals," Tulsa Head Coach Dean Orford said. "I have a lot of respect for (UNT Head Coach) Sujay Lama, and I feel like both of our programs are headed in the right direction."

The Golden Hurricane (8-2) won the doubles point and the Mean Green (8-5) picked up its lone point at No. 6 singles.

North Texas captured the first decision of the match, which was an 8-5 victory for Irina Paraschiv and Franzi Sprinkmeyer over junior Michelle Farley and freshman Isaura Enrique on the third doubles court.

Tulsa would win the doubles point, however, after the home team took the next two courts.

Senior Bonny Davidson and sophomore Samantha Vickers topped Valentina Starkova and Kseniya Bardabush 8-5 on the second court, and the senior duo of Anastasia Erofeeva and Ewa Szatkowska defeated Nadia Lee and Barbora Vykydalova 8-6 at the top of the lineup.

TU quickly won courts 5, 4 and 1 to secure the team victory.

Farley was off court first with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Paraschiv at the fifth position, and Enrique quickly followed with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Ilona Serchenko from the fourth court.

No. 82-ranked Erofeeva dropped Lee 6-4, 6-1 from the top of the order, and No. 67-ranked Vickers defeated Bardabush 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Szatkowska gave TU a sixth point following an exciting third-set super tiebreak. She and Starkova split the first two sets 6-2, 4-6, and Szatkowska won the super tiebreak without dropping a point, 10-0.

Paula Dinuta gave the Mean Green its lone point at No. 6 when she defeated Davidson 7-5, 7-6 (14-12).

Tulsa will play host to Kansas at noon March 4 at Case Tennis Center.
