Women’s Tennis Travels to Wichita State for Final Regular Season Match

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis travels to Wichita, Kan., for their final regular season matchup on Apr. 11 at 1 p.m.
 
Scouting Wichita State
  • No. 28 Wichita State is 17-3 on the season.
  • The Shockers bring a 15-match winning streak into the weekend and have not dropped a match since Jan. 24.
  • WSU hosts Creighton on Friday afternoon before facing Tulsa, closing out the regular season for both teams.
  • The Shockers boast a ranked pair in Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli, who are sitting at No. 34 in the Apr. 7 ITA rankings. They also hold the No. 102 spot in doubles by way of Theodora Chantava.

Last Time Out
  • Tulsa women's tennis (13-10) earned a thrilling 4-2 win over Memphis (2-15) on Sunday, extending its streak to five straight matches, the team's longest of the season.
  • In doubles, Tulsa grabbed back-to-back 6-4 wins to take the early advantage. Coral Valle and Erin McKenzie finished first, and Uta Asakura and Carolina Alonso followed to clinch the point. On court one, Maria Santos and Isabella Basson left with their match at 4-5, just behind Memphis's Emma Dvorackova and Sofiia Mykhailets.
  • Singles turned into a tight battle, with multiple matches going to third sets. McKenzie put Tulsa on the board first with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. Alonso followed soon after, closing out a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Memphis answered with a run, as Mykhailets defeated Santos 6-3, 6-3 on court one and Valle fell 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, narrowing the team score to 3-2 in Tulsa's favor.
  • With the final two matches in third sets, Alice Baba delivered the clincher for the Golden Hurricane. She secured her 11th win of the season and fourth straight with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 comeback. The win marked her third clinch this season.
