
Alonso Named Freshman of the Year, Earns All-Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced its women's tennis postseason honors Tuesday morning, with Tulsa's Carolina Alonso earning Freshman of the Year recognition and a spot on the All-Conference Team.
Alonso compiled a 17-8 singles record and a 7-14 mark in doubles during the 2026 spring season, while also adding 10 wins during fall competition. Her signature victory came in April, when she defeated the nation's No. 111-ranked singles player in Tulsa's match against Wichita State.
The Cordoba Veracruz, Mexico, native primarily competed in the No. 3 singles position throughout the dual season. In doubles play, she teamed with senior Maria Santos for most of the year, appearing in the top two spots of the lineup.
Alonso put together multiple strong runs over the course of the season, including a team-best eight-match winning streak. She finished the year leading Tulsa in both singles victories and total wins.
