TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis heads to Houston, Texas, for the American Conference Women's Tennis Championship April 16-19, hosted by Rice.

In the first round, the No. 4 seed Golden Hurricane faces the 13-seeded East Carolina at 10 a.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

American Conference Championship History
  • Tulsa has appeared in 10 American Championships in women's tennis since they joined the conference in the 2014-15 season.
  • In that time, TU has only missed the semifinals once, in 2024, when they were eliminated in the second round. They have never fallen in their first match of the championship.
  • In Tulsa first four years in the American, they claimed three titles. Since then, TU's highest finish is runner-up, happening in 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2025.

Scouting East Carolina
  • The 13-seeded Pirates finished the regular season at 4-10.
  • ECU lost their last three matchups to conclude their regular season.
  • East Carolina secured only one win on the road this season, a 4-1 win over Hampton. They also claimed a neutral site victory against Lehigh in early March.

Last Time Out
  • Tulsa women's tennis fell 4-1 on the road to No. 28 Wichita State on Saturday afternoon in their final regular season match.
  • Wichita State set the tone early in doubles, taking wins over the pairs of Maria Santos and Isabella Basson along with Uta Asakura and Carolina Alonso at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to claim the opening point. The No. 3 match featuring Coral Valle and Erin McKenzie went unfinished with the point already decided.
  • In singles play, Tulsa found a bright spot at the No. 3 position as Carolina Alonso earned a ranked win, defeating No. 92 Theodora Chantava to put Tulsa on the board. However, Wichita State responded with straight-set victories over Santos at No. 1, Alice Baba at No. 4, and Erin McKenzie at No. 6 to clinch the match.

Live stats for the match will be hosted on iOn Court. Live streaming is available through Rice's PlaySight.
