
Tulsa Drops Final Regular Season Match 4-1 to Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – Tulsa women's tennis fell 4-1 on the road to No. 28 Wichita State on Saturday afternoon in their final regular season match.
Wichita State set the tone early in doubles, taking wins over the pairs of Maria Santos and Isabella Basson along with Uta Asakura and Carolina Alonso at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to claim the opening point. The No. 3 match featuring Coral Valle and Erin McKenzie went unfinished with the point already decided.
In singles play, Tulsa found a bright spot at the No. 3 position as Carolina Alonso earned a ranked win, defeating No. 92 Theodora Chantava to put Tulsa on the board. However, Wichita State responded with straight-set victories over Santos at No. 1, Alice Baba at No. 4, and Erin McKenzie at No. 6 to clinch the match.
Several matches remained in progress when play was halted, including one with Basson leading 4-6, 6-1, 2-1 at the No. 2 position.
Tulsa will begin postseason action at the American Conference Championships next week. Matches begin on April 16th in Houston, Texas.
