Bautista and Kirby advance at the USTA Collegiate Clay Courts

ORLANDO, Fla. - Carlos Bautista advanced to the second round of the singles of the USTA Collegiate Clay Courts in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday.
Bautista defeated Nathan Rakitt of Georgia Tech 6-4, 7-6 (6) in the first round on Thursday. Bautista faces No. 9-16 Benjamin Lock on Friday at 1 p.m. in the second round of the singles.
Bautista paired up with Matthew Kirby to defeat Daniel Leitner and Manuel Belda of South Alabama 8-6 on Friday in the doubles. The duo faces Eric Johnson and Max De Vroome of USC at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the second round of the doubles.
Three Hurricane players fell in the first round on Thursday. Kirby fell to No. 9-16 Norbert Nemscek of North Florida 6-3, 6-4, Chase Gordon fell to No. 9-16 DeVroome of USC 6-1, 6-2 and Dylan McCloskey fell to Jose Gracia of Florida State 6-2, 6-2.
Kirby faces Inaki Espindola of Central Florida at 10:30 a.m., Gordon faces Kyle Seelig of USTA at 10 a.m. and McCloskey faces Tuki Jacobs of South Alabama at 11:30 a.m. in the singles consolation on Friday.
The doubles team of McCloskey and Gordon fell to Caio Gomez and Yannick Zuern of North Florida 8-3 in the first round on Thursday.
