Tulsa Travels to Texas Southern for Tuesday Afternoon Game
Tulsa (1-2) returns to action on Tuesday, November 25, against Texas Southern (0-3). Game time is set for 2:30 pm at the HPE Arena in Houston, Texas.
The Series
The series between Tulsa and Texas Southern is tied, 1-1. TU captured a 72-53 win in 2008, while TSU picked up an 88-80 win last season.
Leading the Way
Seniors Mariah Turner and Kadan Brady, and junior Ashley Clark are all posting double-digit points this season. Turner has a team-high 20.0 ppg, followed by Brady with 16.0 ppg and Clark with 10.3 ppg. Turner also has a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game, while junior Kelsee Grovey has 11 assists and Clark has five blocks.
Scouting the Opponent
Texas Southern is 0-3 on the season, falling to Oklahoma State (77-58), Kansas (69-44) and TCU (69-52). The Tigers are led by Brianna Sidney with 10.7 ppg and Morgan Simmons with 10.0 ppg, while Simmons has a team-best 8.0 rpg. Sidney has a team-leading eight steals, and Alexus Johnson and Kiana Vines have three blocks.
In TU's Last Contest
Ashley Clark had a double-double, while Kadan Brady and Mariah Turner both had double-digit points, but Tulsa dropped a 73-71 decision to Oral Roberts in the annual Mayor's Cup on Friday night at the Mabee Center on the ORU campus.
Turner had a team-best 22 points, while Clark and Brady each scored 14. Clark also added 10 rebounds five assists and four blocks, and Kelsee Grovey had five assists and three steals.
Tulsa shot 38-percent on the night, including 50-percent from three-point range, and 85-percent from the free throw line. TU held the lead for 21:19 of the game.
In Tulsa's Top 10
Mariah Turner, Kelsee Grovey and Kadan Brady have already earned their way into Tulsa's Top 10 career lists.
Turner is first with a .574 field goal percentage; Grovey is seventh in three-point field goals made (115), three-point field goal percentage (.366) and free throw percentage (.818); and Brady is eighth in three-point field goals made (113).
Adding Up
Tulsa juniors Ashley Clark and Kelsee Grovey are looking to join the 1,000 point club this season. Only eight players have scored 1,000 points or more in their careers at Tulsa. Clark currently has 637 points, while Grovey has 705.
