Tulsa Continues Home Stand Against UALR
Tulsa (5-5) continues its four-game home stand against UALR (6-2) on Sunday, Dec. 21 beginning at 2:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The Series
This is the ninth game between Tulsa and UALR on the women's basketball court as the Trojans have a 7-1 lead in the series. UALR has won the last five straight, including a 78-51 decision in Little Rock, Ark., during the 2012-13 season.
Leading the Way
Seniors Mariah Turner and Kadan Brady, and junior Ashley Clark are all posting double-digit points this season. Clark has a team-high 13.9 ppg, followed by Turner with 13.8 ppg and Brady with 10.2 ppg. Clark has a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game and nine blocks, while Brady and Teanna Reid both have 32 assists, and Brady has 19 steals.
Scouting the Opponent
The Trojans have a 6-2 overall record, but are coming off a 67-42 loss to South Dakota State on Thursday. Taylor Gault has a team-best 12.4 points per game, while Shanity James has 9.6 ppg and a team-leading 5.9 rebounds per game. Ka'Nesheia Cobbins has 29 assists and 20 steals.
In TU's Last Contest
Five Tulsa players scored in double-figures to lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 78-55 win over the New Orleans Privateers Thursday night in front of 695 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Ashley Clark scored a team-high 13 points, followed by 12 each from Kelsee Grovey and Kadan Brady and 10 points apiece from Mariah Turner and Jordyn Holmes. Clark and Turner also led the Hurricane in rebounding with nine boards apiece.
Tulsa tallied 42 points in the paint, had 20 second-chance points and totaled a 20-4 advantage on fast-break points in a game in which the Hurricane led from start to finish. Tulsa had 21 assists in the game and forced 22 Privateer turnovers.
In Tulsa's Top 10
Mariah Turner, Kelsee Grovey, Kadan Brady and Ashley Clark have already earned their way into Tulsa's Top 10 career lists.
Turner is first with a .574 field goal percentage; Grovey is sixth in three-point field goals made (126), three-point field goal percentage (.366) and free throw percentage (.818); Brady is eighth in three-point field goals made (119); and Clark is ninth in double-doubles with seven.
Among the Nation's Best
The Golden Hurricane ranks 38th nationally with a 35.6 three-point field goal percentage and 65th nationally with a 43.7 field goal percentage.
Adding Up
Tulsa juniors Ashley Clark and Kelsee Grovey are looking to join the 1,000 point club this season. Only eight players have scored 1,000 points or more in their careers at Tulsa. Clark currently has 745 points, while Grovey has 769.
