Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer team will kick off the 2014 campaign this Friday, August 29th at Saint Louis and will continue the road swing at SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday, August 31st. Game times are set for 7:00 pm and 1:00 pm, respectively.
"We have two great contests to begin the season on the road this weekend at Saint Louis and at SIU-Edwardsville," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We have been working hard for the last eight months to get ready for the season so we are looking forward to competing on Friday."
The TU roster features 11 returning letterwinners, eight of which were starters a year ago, two returning squad members and 15 newcomers.
Tulsa finished last season with an 11-6-3 overall record, but fell to Charlotte in the Conference USA Championship match and narrowly missed the NCAA Championship. TU outscored its opponents 37-19, had four players named to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region team and seven players picked up conference accolades.
The Billikens netted a 14-5-2 mark and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship match a year ago. They have a narrow 6-4 advantage in the series with Tulsa, but the Golden Hurricane earned a 4-1 victory in the last meeting during the 2010 season.
A year ago, TU earned a 2-0 win over the Cougars, which concluded the season with an 8-9-2 mark.
