Men's Tennis Rolls Past Incarnate Word

TULSA, Okla. - The No. 40 University of Tulsa's men's tennis team swept Incarnate Word, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The sweep moves the Hurricane to 3-1, while the Redbirds fall to 0-2 early in the year.
Sunday's match began with singles play, where the Hurricane won four of the six matches in straight sets.
Alejandro Espejo earned the win from the No. 1 position, 6-1, 7-6, while Dylan McCloskey won a three-set battle, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, in the No. 2 position.
The other three-set match came from the No. 3 matchup, where Matthew Kirby had to come from behind after dropping the first frame, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
TU controlled the doubles action, giving up just five games in three matches.
Espejo and Carlos Bautista swept their No. 1 match, winning 6-0, while Kirby and Mitchell Pritchard took their match, 6-2.
In the No. 3 doubles, Chase Gordon and Daniel Santos saw their first doubles action of the year and took advantage of it, winning 6-3.
The Hurricane will now travel to Columbus, Ohio for the ITA Kick-Off on January 24 and 25.
