Tulsa Volleyball Continues Conference Play Taking on SMU and East Carolina

WEEKLY GAME NOTES

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team (10-12, 5-5 American) continues American Athletic Conference play this week as they return to the Donald W. Reynolds Center to face SMU on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6:00 p.m. The Golden Hurricane travels to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina at the Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
 
SMU (19-3, 9-1 American) comes into the match after sweeping both of their conference matches last weekend, defeating Cincinnati and Memphis. The Pirates (10-11, 3-7 American) lost both of their conference matches last weekend, falling to UCF and USF.  Live video and live stats for the match will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com
 
Tulsa is led by, junior outside hitter Erica Bohannon, who averages 3.84 kills per set, and senior middle blocker Ashley Hooper, who averages 2.76 kills per set and a .330 attacking percentage. Junior libero Brooke Berryhill also plays a vital role averaging 5.03 digs per set on 453 total digs this season. Sophomore setter Sophie Bethke's ability to facilitates the offensive effectively has her averaging 10.38 assists per set on 932 total assists this season.
 
When Tulsa faces SMU Wednesday it will be the 40th match-up in program history. Tulsa trails the close series at 18-21. Earlier this season, the Hurricane lost, 3-1, in the match at Dallas against the Mustangs.
 
Friday's match against East Carolina will mark the 15th meeting in program history. Tulsa leads the series at 13-1. Earlier this season, the Hurricane won, 3-2, in it's home match against the Pirates.
