Tulsa Travels to #25 USF on Wednesday
Tulsa (14-10, 9-4 The American) will take to the road to face #25 USF (20-5, 11-2 The American) on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The game is set to begin at 6:00 pm Central at the Sun Dome and will be broadcast live on the American Digital Network.
The Series
This will be the first meeting between Tulsa and USF on the women's basketball court.
Leading the Way
Junior Ashley Clark and senior Mariah Turner are posting double-digit points this season. Clark has a team-best 14.0 ppg, while Turner adds 12.7 ppg. Kelsee Grovey fell just under double figures with 9.9 ppg. Clark has a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game and 12 blocks, Kadan Brady has 43 steals and Teanna Reid has 77 assists.
Scouting the Opponent
USF, which was ranked No. 25 in the Feb. 10 USA Today poll, has a 20-5 overall record and an 11-2 mark in the league. The Bulls are led by Courtney Williams who posts 20.8 points per game, while Alisia Jenkins adds 12.0 points per game and pulls down a team-best 11.4 rebounds per game. Williams has 80 assists and 42 steals, and Jenkins has recorded 61 blocks.
In TU's Last Contest
Ashley Clark and Teanna Reid each scored in double figures to lead Tulsa to a 72-59 win over SMU on Saturday afternoon at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. This is the first time since 2006 that TU has picked up six-straight wins.
Clark had a team-leading 19 points, Reid added 12 points, Kelsee Grovey posted nine points, and Mariah Turner and Ashley Hughes each had eight points. Clark also had a team-best seven rebounds and three steals, and Reid had four assists.
Tulsa had a 38-33 lead in rebounds and an 18-12 advantage in assists, while SMU had a 10-9 lead in steals and an 8-1 advantage in blocks.
On a Run
The six-game winning streak is the longest since the 2006 season.
Mossman Has 203 Career Wins
Matilda Mossman reached the 200-win milestone as Tulsa captured a 70-61 win over UCF on Jan. 31, 2015. Mossman had 67 wins at Arkansas, 80 wins at Kansas State and currently 56 wins at TU for 203 career victories.
In Tulsa's Top 10
Seven current Tulsa women's basketball players have already earned their way into Tulsa's Top 10 career lists.
- Brady is sixth in three-point field goals made (132), ninth in steals (131) and 10th in games played (114).
- Clark is third in double-doubles (10), eighth in field goals made (366), and 10th in assists (194) and points (943)
- Grovey is fourth in three-point field goals made (146), and eighth in free throw percentage with a .824 clip (150 of 182) and assists (219).
- Ashley Hughes is third in three-point field goal percentage with a .400 clip (20 of 50) and fourth in free throw percentage with a .833 clip (20 of 24).
- Teanna Reid is first in three-point field goal percentage with a .500 clip (33 of 66). - Turner is second with a .556 field goal percentage (330 of 593) and ninth in free throws made (198).
- Antoinet Webster is ninth in free throw percentage with a .818 clip (27 of 33).
Among the Nation's Best
The Golden Hurricane ranks 36th nationally in steals per game (10.6), 55th in field goal percentage (43.1) and assists per game (15.2), 63rd in three-point field goal percentage (34.7) and 86th in turnover margin (2.2).
Adding Up
Tulsa juniors Ashley Clark and Kelsee Grovey are looking to join the 1,000 point club this season. Only eight players have scored 1,000 points or more in their careers at Tulsa. Clark currently has 943 points, while Grovey has 924.
