No. 27 Men's Tennis Edges Knights, 4-3

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team edged out the UCF Knights (13-8, 4-3 American), 4-3, Friday at the UCF Tennis Complex, for its first American Athletic Conference win (1-0) of the season.
With the victory the Golden Hurricane improves to 14-9 on the season, and is now 4-3 in matches that have ended in 4-3 results.
The Hurricane took the doubles point, after Juan Matias Gonzalez and Daniel Santos took down Mariano Porter and Jesse Flores, 6-4, before Matthew Kirby and Carlos Bautista clinched the point by beating Francesc Aulina and Reece Acree, 6-4.
In singles play, the number two spot was the first to finish as Jose Sangroniz beat Kirby, 6-1, 6-3, to even up the team score at 1-1. Bautista gave TU the lead back, with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Inaki Espindola from the number four match.
The match was again tied after UCF's Chris Barrus defeated Gonzalez, 6-3, 7-5, from the number three spot. Santos took the next point for the Hurricane, topping Reece Acree in a three-set thriller, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), from the six match. After the Knights tied it at 3-3 with a point from the number five position, Or Ram-Harel played hero by winning a three-set match that saw two tiebreakers, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-1, from the top singles spot to clinch the road win for Tulsa.
The Hurricane will look to carry its momentum into Tampa, Fla. on Sunday, where they will take on the No. 18 South Florida Bulls at 12:00 p.m. CT, for another American showdown.
