Tulsa Faces #6 Tulane in American Championship Quarterfinals
Tulsa (17-12, 12-6 The American) will face #6-seed Tulane (20-9, 11-7 The American) in the American Athletic Conference Championship quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The game can be viewed live on ESPN3.com.
Tulsa in Conference Tournaments
Tulsa has a 12-15 overall record in conference tournaments, spanning from 1998 to 2014. TU had a 3-8 mark in Western Athletic Conference postseason play and a 9-7 record in Conference USA postseason play. The Golden Hurricane made two perfect runs, including a 3-0 record to claim the C-USA title in 2006 and a 4-0 run to earn the C-USA title in 2013.
Last year, Tulsa dropped a 90-89 decision to UTSA in the first round of the C-USA Championship in Memphis, Tenn.
The Series
This will be the 23rd meeting between Tulsa and Tulane on the women's basketball court, with the Green Wave owning a 14-8 advantage in the series. The two teams split decisions during the regular season, with the Green Wave picking up a 73-34 win in New Orleans, and TU earning a 55-52 victory in Tulsa.
In the Last 11
Tulsa has won nine of its last 11 games, including a six-game winning streak spanning from January 24 to Feb. 14 for the longest unbeaten streak on the season. TU is currently on a three-game wining streak, closing out the regular season with wins over Memphis, Tulane and Cincinnati.
Leading the Way
Juniors Ashley Clark and Kelsee Grovey, and senior Mariah Turner are posting double-digit points this season. Clark has a team-best 13.8 ppg, while Turner adds 11.8 ppg and Grovey posts 10.7 ppg. Clark has a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game and 14 blocks, Kadan Brady has 49 steals and Teanna Reid has 91 assists.
Kelsee Grovey is Hot
Kelsee Grovey is on a hot streak, scoring in double figures in six of the last seven games. She averages 10.7 ppg on the season, but in the last five games, she is posting 14.4 ppg and in the final three contests she averaged 16.3 ppg.
Scouting the Opponent
Tulane has a 20-9 overall record and tallied an 11-7 mark in conference play, but lost four of their last five contests. Kolby Morgan is the only player scoring in double figures with 12.4 ppg and she has a team-leading 62 steals. Tiffany Dale has a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game and 35 blocks, and Jamie Kaplan has 132 assists.
In TU's Last Contest
The Tulsa women's basketball team claimed the third seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship with a 71-58 win over Cincinnati in the final regular season contest on Monday night at the Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Kelsee Grovey paced the Golden Hurricane with 21 points, while Teanna Reid and Ashley Clark each tallied 13 points, and Mariah Turner, Erika Wakefield and Antoinet Webster each had six points. Clark finished just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds, and added three assists, while Turner had two blocks.
Mossman Has 206 Career Wins
Matilda Mossman reached the 200-win milestone as Tulsa captured a 70-61 win over UCF on Jan. 31, 2015. Mossman had 67 wins at Arkansas, 80 wins at Kansas State and currently 59 wins at TU for 206 career victories.

Six current Tulsa women's basketball players have already earned their way into Tulsa's Top 10 career lists.
- Brady is fifth in games played (119), sixth in three-point field goals made (133) and ninth in steals (137)
- Clark is third in double-doubles (10), eighth in field goals made (393), ninth in points (1,006), and 10th in free throws made (185), rebounds (520) and assists (204)
- Grovey is fourth in three-point field goals made (158), eighth in assists (224), ninth in free throw percentage with a .822 clip (162 of 197), and 10th in points (996), field goals made (338) and three-point field goal percentage with a .363 clip (158 of 435)
- Ashley Hughes is third in three-point field goal percentage with a .400 clip (24 of 60) and fourth in free throw percentage with a .833 clip (20 of 24)
- Teanna Reid is first in three-point field goal percentage with a .432 clip (35 of 81)
- Turner is second with a .546 field goal percentage (344 of 629), seventh in games played (117), and ninth in field goals made (344), free throws made (209) and rebounds (528)

The Golden Hurricane ranks 52nd nationally in steals per game (9.9), 68th in field goal percentage (42.4), 75th in assists per game (14.7) and 83rd in three-point field goal percentage (34.0).
Adding Up
Tulsa junior Ashley Clark became the ninth women's basketball player in school history to score 1,000 career points. She picked up her 1,000th career point against Cincinnati in the final regular season game and currently has 1,006. Classmate Kelsee Grovey fell just shy of 1,000 points as she currently has 996 points.
