Foster comes to TU from Loyola-Chicago

Tulsa Head Women's Basketball Coach Matilda Mossman announced today the appointment of Leah Foster as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane. Foster comes to Tulsa following one season at Loyola University Chicago.

"I am excited about coming to The University of Tulsa," Foster said. "It is a great place to be in terms of academics, the great city and great school. The sky is the limit for the program, and Coach Mossman has the team going in the right direction to be an NCAA tournament team year in and year out."

"Leah is someone I've gotten to know over the past several years," Mossman said. "We've sat in a lot of gyms together watching kids play and I've seen first-hand how hard she works. Leah is personable, articulate, organized and extremely passionate about working with young people and growing our game.

"I'm excited that we were able to land a person of her talent at The University of Tulsa and feel certain that she will mesh with our existing staff. It should be a seamless transition and I look forward to continuing to move our program forward with her addition."

Foster served as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for Loyola during the 2014-15 season. She was responsible for nation-wide recruiting, all defensive organization and planning, individual player development, scouting of opponents, and was the compliance liaison. Foster helped coach the Ramblers' Taylor Manuel who was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year and picked up first-team all-conference accolades this past season.

Prior to Loyola, Foster was an assistant coach at Houston for three seasons (2011-14), where she recruited the 22nd-best class in 2012 according to Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and the 39th-best class by ESPN HoopGurlz.

Before her stint at Houston, Foster spent three seasons (2008-11) as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College. She helped the Big Green capture the 2009 Ivy League Championship, while posting an 18-11 record and earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Foster began her coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Texas State women's basketball program for two years (2006-08).

Foster was a four-year letterwinner at St. Edward's University (Austin, Texas), an NCAA Division II program. She led the Hilltoppers to the 2006 Heartland Conference Championship and was tabbed to the all-conference second team in 2005.

Foster earned her bachelor's degree in English literature from St. Edward's University in 2006 and her master's degree in physical education-sports management from Texas State in 2008.

Foster fills the position vacated by Britney Brown, who left the Golden Hurricane for an assistant coaching job at Nebraska.
