Schedule in PDF

Tulsa will play host to 10-time National Champion UConn, as well as NCAA Tournament participants USF and Tulane, in American Athletic Conference action, as announced today by the league office.

TU currently will have three games broadcast nationally, including both contests against UConn (ESPN3/SNY) and the Tulsa-Temple (ESPNU) game.  The full television schedule for women's basketball has not been finalized.

"We are excited to be entering our second year in the American Athletic Conference," Tulsa Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "We get to compete against quality teams and play in some energetic venues with knowledgeable basketball fans.  We know a little more about our competition now than we did a year ago so that makes us more focused in on the level that we need to compete.  I hope our fans will really come out and support our team because we feed off of their energy and enthusiasm."

Six teams in The American advanced to postseason play last year, as East Carolina, Temple and Tulsa competed in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Tulsa will begin conference play with a pair of home games against East Carolina (Dec. 30) and SMU (Jan. 2).  ECU had a 22-11 mark last season and advanced to the second round of the WNIT.  SMU struggled a year ago, recording just seven wins.  The Golden Hurricane and Pirates split on the year, while Tulsa won both games against the Mustangs.

A three-game road swing to UConn (Jan. 6), Temple (Jan. 8) and Memphis (Jan. 10) is up next for TU.  UConn won its third-straight and 10th overall National Championship with a 63-53 win over Notre Dame in the title game last season.  The Huskies had a 38-1 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in The American.

Temple notched a 20-17 record and played in the WNIT semifinals a year ago, but it was the Golden Hurricane that captured a 75-67 home win over the Owls for a 1-0 lead in the series.  Memphis had 14 wins, including seven conference victories, but fell to Tulsa twice last season as TU tied the all-time series, 6-6.

Cincinnati and Tulane come to town on Jan. 13 and Jan. 16, respectively.  The Green Wave posted 22 wins, 11 of which came in conference play, but fell to Mississippi State in the first round of the NCAA Championship.  The Hurricane picked up two wins last year over Cincinnati, which had only eight victories on the season.

TU will travel to Houston on Jan. 20, before returning home to host Memphis (Jan. 23) and UConn (Jan. 27).  Houston had six wins a year ago.

Tulsa will take on UCF (Jan. 30) and East Carolina (Feb. 3) in Orlando and Greenville, N.C., respectively, before returning home to face Houston (Feb. 10) and UCF (Feb. 13).  UCF tallied just nine wins last year, but split with Tulsa to hold on to a 6-5 advantage in the series.

TU will play three of its last four regular season games on the road, including at SMU (Feb. 17), Tulane (Feb. 20) and Cincinnati (Feb. 27), while hosting USF on Feb. 24.  The Bulls posted the best season in program history last year with a 27-8 record, including a 15-3 mark in the league.  USF finished the year ranked 24th in the WBCA Poll and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The American Athletic Conference Championship will be hosted by UConn at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on March 4-7, 2016.

Tulsa's non-conference schedule was announced earlier this summer and includes home games against Kansas State, Oral Roberts, Grambling State, Indiana State and Oklahoma; road contests against Saint Louis, Arkansas, UALR and Northern Iowa; and a tournament featuring Drake, George Mason and host UNLV.
