Thirty NCAA men's soccer student-athletes, including Tulsa's Bradley Bourgeois, were selected as candidates today for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer.  To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Bourgeois, who was named the American Athletic Conference Preseason Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, has started in all 62 games of his career.  He has three goals and one assist for seven points, and has been instrumental in 22 shutouts.

In the classroom, Bourgeois maintains a 3.08 GPA in finance, was named to the Tulsa Athletic Director's Honor Roll all three years and was selected to the 2014-15 American Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

Bourgeois volunteered with the First Methodist Church on a mission trip to Guatemala where he assisted children in school, helped build a house and made home visits to families. He also has volunteered for Lift Up America and local food drives, and has helped raise funds for school supplies for area children.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot.  Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select the one whom best exemplifies excellence in community, classroom, character and competition. ?

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2015 NCAA Men's College Cup championships in December.
