No. 27 Tulsa Men’s Tennis Team Falls to No. 19 Texas, 4-2, Saturday Afternoon

Tulsa, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team lost to No. 19 Texas in a 4-2 decision Saturday afternoon at the Westwood Country Club. The No. 27 Golden Hurricane falls to 9-9 overall, while Texas improves to 12-6 overall.

Julian Zlobinsky and George Goldhoff (No. 2) defeated Dylan McCloskey and Dominic Bechard, 6-0, giving the Longhorns a 1-0 doubles point advantage. The Hurricane battled back as Matthew Kirby and Francois Kellerman (No. 1) defeated No. 61 Michael Riechmann and Adrian Ortiz in a 6-3 decision tying the doubles point at 1-1. Majed Kilani and Carlos Bautista (No. 3) clinched the doubles point defeating Harrison Scott and John Mee, 7-5, to give Tulsa a 1-0 match advantage going into singles play.

In singles play, Harrison Scott (No. 2) of Texas defeated Juan Matias Gonzalez, 6-0, 7-5, to tie the match at 1-1. Julian Zlobinsky (No. 6) defeated Francois Kellerman, 6-4, 6-4, to give the Longhorns a 2-1 match lead. TU's No. 53 singles player Or Ram-Harel (No. 1) defeated George Goldhoff, 6-4, 6-2, to tie the match score for the second time at 2-2. Adrian Ortiz (No. 3) defeated Carlos Bautista, 6-4, 7-6, to give Texas a late 3-2 match lead. Michael Riechmann (No. 5) clinched the match victory for the Longhorns defeating Dylan McCloskey, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Hurricane returns to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Friday, April 1, when it faces in-state rival No. 5 Oklahoma State.
