The University of Tulsa softball head coach John Bargfeldt announced today the addition of three players to the roster for the 2017 season – Shannon Hughes, Haley Meinen and Jentri Sinor.

Hughes is an infield/outfielder from Kansas City, Mo., Meinen is an infielder from Houston, Texas, and Snior is a pitcher from Owasso, Okla.

Hughes is a transfer from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Okla., and will have two years of eligibility at Tulsa. A shortstop at NEO, Hughes led the Golden Norse to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, where they finished fifth in the nation. She totaled 102 hits, while batting .483 with 15 home runs, 79 RBI, 82 runs, 18 steals, an .820 slugging and a .525 on-base percentage in 2016. As a freshman, she hit .296 with seven home runs, 41 RBI, 46 runs and 12 steals.

Meinen transferred to Tulsa after two years at the University of Arkansas, and will have three years of eligibility remaining at TU. She played one season in 2015 before sitting out the 2016 season with an injury. As a freshman at Arkansas, she appeared in 20 games in the circle, making five starts, and she also batted .364 in 11 plate appearances. Meinen was a three-time Texas all-state performer at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas. She earned Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 4-4A Most Valuable Player and state all-tournament honors, while leading the Eagles to the state championship as a junior in 2013.

Sinor comes to Tulsa from Owasso High School, where she was a 2015 Oklahoma Class 6A all-state selection by the Tulsa World. A pitcher in high school, Sinor can also play infield and outfield positions. In addition to the all-state honors, she earned All-District 6A-4 honors after posting a 22-4 record and a nearly 5-to-1 strikeouts-to-walk ratio in 148.2 innings last season.

Hughes, Meinen and Sinor join Kelsey Eropkin, Madison Higley, Sarah Kosmata and Mikayla Whitten as newcomers for the Golden Hurricane in 2016-17. Eropkin, Higley, Kosmata and Whitten signed National Letters-of-Intent with TU in November.

The Golden Hurricane begins fall practice on Sept. 9, and begins its eight-game exhibition schedule on Sept. 23 against Crowder College at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
