TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa head men's basketball coach Frank Haith announced on Monday that Peter Hewitt has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Golden Hurricane for the 2018-19 season. Hewitt will have three years of eligibility at TU and he joins Zeke Moore and Chris Barnes as members of the Golden Hurricane signing class.
"We are so excited to be welcoming Peter Hewitt into the TU family," Haith said. "Finding a versatile big man was a priority for us and Peter's athleticism allows him to play even bigger than his 6-foot-10 frame. Peter competes for one of the top junior college programs in California after starting his career at UC Davis. He is a tremendous student and has a feel for playing and competing at the Division I level. He also will have three years to compete at Tulsa, so he is someone our fans will enjoy following for the next three years."
Hewitt is a 6-foot-10 forward from Mountain View, Calif., and he currently plays for Las Positas College in Livermore, Calif. He has helped the Hawks average 99.0 ppg and start 3-0 this season.
Prior to enrolling at Las Positas, Hewitt redshirted his freshman season at UC Davis.
Hewitt was a three-year letterwinner at Saint Francis High School, where he helped lead the Lancers to a pair of West Coast Athletic League titles in his final two seasons. He averaged 11 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal per game and was an all-conference pick. Hewitt was ranked No. 35 in the state by ESPN during his senior season and he also received a top-10 Northern California ranking.
In addition to his success on the court, Hewitt was an honor roll student all four years at Saint Francis.
