Ashley Hughes had a career night in her final regular season contest as a Golden Hurricane, giving Tulsa a 78-61 win over Cincinnati on Monday night at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tulsa is now 3-0 in Fifth Third Arena against the Bearcats.

Hughes had a career-high 18 points and eight assists, and tied her career high of six field goals made and one block, while playing all 40 minutes. Erika Wakefield added 15 points and four assists, Liesl Spoerl tallied 14 points, Tatyana Perez scored 10 and Kendrian Elliott finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Hughes, Spoerl and Tyjae' Scales all added five rebounds.
"It wasn't intentional to leave Ashley in, but she was playing so well I hated to take her out," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said. "Then in the second half she came out and hit a big shot so I was going to leave her in until she missed a shot and she didn't miss until about two minutes left in the game. Tonight was her senior night. She didn't make any mistakes – no turnovers, 6-of-9, guarded well and didn't do anything wrong. It's one she'll always remember and she, as well as fellow senior Jessica Pongonis are great ambassadors. They set the tone at practice every day and I am happy for them and how they have played in the last two games."
"It's always about making shots," Mossman added. "We shot the ball well, everyone shot well. When you are shooting the ball well, other parts of the game you feel good about too. I am thrilled that our guys were able to manage the game the way they did, especially in the fourth quarter. They took care of the ball."
Tulsa had a 17-10 lead in assists, while Cincinnati had a 35-34 edge in rebounds and a 9-4 advantage in steals. Both teams had four blocks.

Hughes hit a three at the 3:53 mark, and then Shug Dickson scored a free throw to give TU a 34-29 lead going into halftime.
