
Tulsa Men’s Tennis Wins Two, Defeats Temple and ORU

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Men's Tennis team picked up two wins on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, defeating Temple in the first match of the day 5-2 before coming away with a 6-1 win over Oral Roberts. The pair of victories moved No. 50-ranked Tulsa to 6-7 overall on the season.
The Hurricane dropped the doubles point for just the third time this season at home against Temple in the first match of the day as Dominic Bechard and Okkie Kellerman fell at the No. 1 spot to Vineet Naran and Florian Mayer 6-4 while Jarod Hing and Daniel Santos dropped the No. 3 doubles match to Uladzimir Dorash and Francisco Bohorquez.
Or Ram-Harel and Majed Kilani won their eighth doubles match of the season with a 6-3 win over Artem Kapshuk and Thomas Sevel.
Tulsa responded by winning five of the six singles matches to come away with five points against the Owls, headlined by three wins at the top four singles positions.
Ram-Harel opened his singles match against Kapshuk with a 6-1 win in the first set before winning the final three games to take the second 6-2.
Kilani earned another singles point for TU at the No. 2 singles position against Mayer, taking a tight first set 6-4 before running away with the second in a 6-0 win.
Dominic Bechard won his match against Sevel in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 while Hing battled back at the No. 4 singles spot against Dorash by taking sets two and three to come away with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win. Daniel Santos capped off singles play for Tulsa with a three-set come from behind win of his own, defeating Eric Biscoveanu 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Tulsa earned doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots against the Golden Eagles as Okkie Kellerman and Dominic Bechard won a tight match against Jan Pehnec and Kenneth Boykin in the tiebreak, 7-6 (4). Or Ram-Harel and Majed Kilani broke Barnabas Koncz's and Amar Saletovic's serve in the third and seventh game of their doubles match, pulling away for a 6-2 win.
Ram-Harel and Kilani continued their strong play into the singles matches, coming away with dominant wins each as Ram-Harel defeated Koncz 6-0, 6-2 while Kilani bested Pehnec 6-1, 6-0.
Bechard won a pair of tight sets in a win over Kenneth Allen Boykin at No. 4, taking two of the final three games in the first set for a 7-6 win before taking the second 6-4. Santos picked up one of the final singles wins for TU with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Michael Sosnowski at No. 5 while Okkie Kellerman defeated Eddy Leardini 6-3, 6-2.
Tulsa will head out on the road for a pair of matches in Florida, beginning with a match against UCF on Friday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m.
