Tulsa Falls to #31 UCF at American Tennis Championships, 4-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Tulsa Men's Tennis team fell in their quarterfinal match to No. 31-ranked UCF on Friday afternoon at the USTA National Campus 4-2. The Hurricane (10-17 Overall) opened up by taking the doubles point, going ahead 2-1 in the match during singles play before falling in the next three singles matches.
 
Tulsa's No. 45-ranked pairing of Or Ram-Harel and Majed Kilani took control early and held their advantage the rest of the way in their match against Harrison Richmond and Mariano Porter, going ahead 4-0 before closing it out 6-1.
 
UCF sent doubles play into the deciding third and final match as Kalman Boyd and Chris Barrus defeated Jarod Hing and Daniel Santos 6-3 at the No. 3 position.
 
Okkie Kellerman and Dominic Bechard broke Korey Lovett/Danny Kerzerman's serve in the second game of their doubles match on court two to pull ahead 2-0 in the only Tulsa break of the match. The Hurricane duo went a perfect three for three in break points saved, including the final save with the game tied in the final set that secured a 6-4 win and the doubles point for TU.
 
The Knights tied it up at 1-1 with a singles win at the No. 3 position before Tulsa picked up their last point of the afternoon by way of a Bechard 6-3, 6-4 win over Porter.
 
No. 28-ranked Ram-Harel's match against No. 54-ranked Korey Lovett went the distance at the top singles position as both players split the first two sets before UCF won the deciding third to earn another point that put them ahead 3-2. UCF went on to clinch the fourth and final point at the No. 5 position as Tulsa's Santos fell to Barrus 7-5, 6-3.
