
Two Tulsa Golfers Named as WGCA All-American Scholars for 2016-17

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. –– Two University of Tulsa women golfers – Nadia Majidizadeh and Nicole Marquardt – were among 952 collegians named as All-American Scholars for 2016-17, as announced today by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The organization recognizes women collegiate golfers who have maintained a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
A graduating senior, Majidizadeh earned her third WGCA All-American scholar award, while Marquardt, a junior, received the honor for the first time in her career. Majidizadeh graduated in May with a 3.62 GPA in International business and a minor in Spanish, while Marquardt has a 3.61 GPA in business.
Majidizadeh, from Tulsa's Union High School, completed her career at Tulsa with 16 top-30 performances in 36 career tournaments, and this past season compiled a 74.5 stroke average with seven top-20 finishes. Marquardt, from Lone Grove, Illinois, played in six tournaments in 2016-17 and had a 78.8 stroke average, while turning in a career-best 15th place performance at the BYU Entrada Classic
Tulsa has now had 21 women golfers earn 34 WGCA All-American Scholar Awards in the history of the program.
The WGCA All-American Scholar Golf Award recognizes the outstanding academic and athletic achievements in women's college golf. Recognized as having one of the highest standards for selection to these teams in college athletics with a minimum 3.50 GPA requirement, the WGCA All-American Scholar Golf Teams continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of women collegiate golfers.

The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
