Tulsa men's soccer players Juan Sanchez and Zack Stavrou were named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Team, as announced today by the league office.  The Golden Hurricane team was picked to finish second in the conference, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Sanchez, a junior forward from Ossining, N.Y., is a two-year letterwinner who has 11 goals and five assists for 27 career points.  He finished the 2016 season with three goals, including two goals at crucial points in The American Championship – the game-winner in the semifinals and the equalizer in the championship, and was tabbed as The American's Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Tournament.

A senior defender from Dallas, Texas, Stavrou is a three-year letterwinner who has one goal and two assists for four points in his career.  He was tabbed to the American Athletic Conference second team a year ago, while starting all 20 games as a junior.

The Tulsa men's soccer team returns 15 letterwinners, including seven starters, from last year's team, which posted 10 wins, won their third-straight American Athletic Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in school history.  TU also added 16 newcomers to the team, which is coached by 23rd-year Head Coach Tom McIntosh.
