•      Tulsa and SMU are 2 of the 3 private universities in the American Athletic Conference … Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with 3,343 students, while SMU's enrollment is 11,739.
•     SMU enters this week's game needing a win to become bowl eligible.
•     Nineteen Tulsa seniors will be playing in their final college games this Saturday.
•     The league's 4th-ranked passing offense, SMU, takes on the league's top-rated pass defense in Tulsa … SMU averages 267.5 yards, while Tulsa allows 161.5 yards passing on the year.
•     The 2 teams have faced 5 common AAC opponents – UConn, Houston, Memphis, Navy and Tulane – this year … SMU has won 4, Tulsa has won one … SMU    has a +21 point margin in those games, while Tulsa has  a   -26  point margin against those 5 opponents.

•      This is the 25th meeting between Tulsa and SMU.
•      The Mustangs lead the series 14-10 and won last year's meeting in Dallas by a score of 38-34.

•      Tulsa senior center Chandler Miller will be making his 50th consecutive start in the SMU game … it is the most consecutive starts in school history.
•      Fellow senior lineman Willie Wright will be making his 47th career start and his 30 consecutive start.
•      Through 11 games, Tulsa has not allowed an opponent to gain over 500 yards in total offense this season … in comparison, 7 opponents gained over 500 yards a year ago.
•      In 3 career games against SMU, senior receiver Justin Hobbs has totaled 12 receptions for 310 yards, a 103.3 yard average per game.
•      Junior LB Cooper Edmiston ranks 2nd in the AAC for tackles (103) and fumble recoveries (3), 3rd for interceptions and 4th for forced fumbles (3).
•      Edmiston has had 6 of Tulsa's 18 takeaways this season.
•      Tulsa RBs Shamari Brooks and Corey Taylor have combined to rush for 30 career TDs, including 16 this year … they also have combined for 8 100-yard rushing games this year, and 13 in their careers.
•      Taylor had his 5th multiple TD game in his career with a career-best 3 rushing TDs against Navy.
•      Tulsa 's season-offensive highs for total offense (638) and rushing yards (470) both game against UConn in Tulsa's last home game.
•      Last week at Navy, Tulsa scored a touchdown in the first quarter for the first time in 5 games … the last time was against USF on Oct. 12.
•      Manny Bunch had his first double-figure tackle game on the season vs. Navy and the third in his career … it's the second straight year that he had double digit tackles against Navy … he had 14 in last year's meeting.
•      Seth Boomer surpassed 200 yards passing for the second time this season with 206 yards against Navy … the previous game was 227 against Houston in his first career game this season.
 
ROBINSON BLOCKS . . .
•      Junior CB Reggie Robinson blocked a PAT attempt in the first half against Navy, marking the third time in his career that he has blocked a kick.
•      Robinson then ran 97 yards for a 2-point defensive PAT after Cooper Edmiston picked up the block and pitched it to Robinson.
•      He also blocked a field goal last year against Navy and also against Tulane in 2016.
•      It marked the 6th time in the last 2 years that Tulsa has either blocked a PAT or field goal.
 
BACK-TO-BACK 100 GAMES FOR TAYLOR . . .
•      Sophomore RB Corey Taylor had 117 yards and 2 TDs on 24 carries against Memphis.
•      It was the second straight week that he went over 100 yards, as he tallied 133 yards against UConn a week earlier.
•      It marked the first time this year that a Tulsa running back had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games.
•      In those 2 games against UConn and Memphis, Taylor totaled 250 yards for a 125-yard average and 3 TDs.
•      In the last 3 games, Taylor has totaled 6 rushing touchdowns with one vs. UConn,  2 at Memphis and 3 at Navy.
 
BOOMER MAKING STEADY PROGRESS . . .
•      Red-shirt freshman QB Seth Boomer played in his first game of any type in the 5th game this year against Houston … it was his first game appearance since his senior year at Collinsville (Okla.) HS in 2016.
•      Boomer had shown steady progress in the 7 games he's played, especially the last 4 contests.
•      In his first 3 starts (Houston, USF, Arkansas), he completed just 35.1 percent (27-of-77) of his passes for 433 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs.
•      Boomer has completed 57-percent (54-of-94) of his passes for 694 yards, 6 TDs and one INT in Tulsa's last 4 games.
 
ONLY ONE SENIOR AMONG TOP-12 . . .
•      On Tulsa's defense, only one senior ranks among the top-12 tacklers, and that is safety McKinley Whitfield, who ranks 4th with 68 stops.
•      Junior LB Cooper Edmiston leads the way with 103 stops, along with team highs for interceptions (3), forced and recovered fumbles (3 each).
•      RS-freshman LB Zaven Collins is second with 79 stops and had a team-high 9.5 TFLs for -31 yards.
•      Junior safety Manny Bunch is 3rd with 71 stops.
•      The remaining top-10 tacklers include RS-freshman safety Bryson Powers (58), junior LB Diamon Cannon (46), junior DE Trevis Gipson (39), sophomore CB Allie Green IV (33), junior DT Shemarr Robinson (29), safety Tie Neal Martin (28),  sophomore DE Cullen Wick (26) and sophomore DT Tyarise Stevenson (25).
 
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER YOUNG TOO . . .
•      Tulsa's top-2 rushers, Shamari Brooks and Corey Taylor II, are both sophomores and have combined for 1,671 yards and 16 TDs rushing … Brooks is a true sophomore.
•      QB Seth Boomer is a red-shirt freshman and has started the last 7 games, throwing for 1,127 yards and 8 TDs … last year, Tulsa QBs threw for only 6 touchdowns for the season.
•      At receiver, Tulsa has 3 players with over 400+ yards, including true sophomore Keylon Stokes and true junior Keenen Johnson … the duo has combined for 852 yards and 5 touchdowns this year.
 
O-LINEMAN CHRIS PAUL NAMED TOP-10 FRESHMAN . . .
•      Tulsa announces its Top Ten Freshman, from the previous academic year, on Homecoming Weekend, and this year that came on Nov. 3.
•      This year, the Top-10 Freshmen included RS freshman football player Chris Paul.
•      A cyber security major from Houston, Texas and Jersey Village High School, Paul impressed the selection committee with an equal balance between athletics, academics and campus involvement.
•      Paul has played in all 11 games this year and has started 7 games at right guard.
 
A LOOK AT THE DEFENSE . . .
•      Through the season, Tulsa's defense has allowed its opponents an average of 410.2 yards per game.
•      Whereas last year, Tulsa's first 11 opponents (Oklahoma State, Louisiana, Toledo, New Mexico, Navy, Tulane, Houston, UConn, SMU, Memphis) gained an average of 547.5 yards per game.
•      That's a difference of 125.8 yards of total offense per game from last year.
•      The most yardage given up by Tulsa this year was 499 yards by Memphis … last year, Tulsa allowed 7 opponents with 500+ yards for the season.
 
PUNTER BENNETT RANKS SECOND IN THE AAC AND FIFTH IN NCAA  . . .
•      Tulsa junior punter Thomas Bennett ranks 2nd in the American Athletic Conference and 5th in the NCAA for punting average with a 46.6 average on 49 punts.
•      He has had 14 punts travel 50 yards, which is second most in the American Athletic  Conference, including 4 60+ yarders (68, 67, 66 and 60 yards), and has dropped 10 inside the 20-yard line.
•      His best average when punting multiple times was 54.5 yards on 4 punts at Houston with 2 inside the 20.
 
COOPER RANKS AMONG NATION'S TOP-40 IN FIVE DEFENSIVE CATEGORIES . . .
•      Cooper Edmiston has a team-leading 103 tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries and 3 fumbles caused
•      Edmiston ranks among the nation's top-40 leaders in 5 different defensive categories –– fumbles recovered (3rd), forced fumbles (24th), interceptions (31st), total tackles (32nd) and interceptions per game (44th).
•      In The American, Edmiston ranks 2nd for tackles, interceptions and fumble recoveries and 4th for forced fumbles.
•      Edmiston now has 227 career tackles and his 5 career fumble recoveries is just one shy of the school's all-time record.
•      Edmiston has 12 career double-figure tackle games, including 6 this year and 6 last year.
