TULSA, Okla. – University of Tulsa men's tennis senior Majed Kilani was named the American Men's Tennis Player of the Month for October, the conference announced on Thursday.
The honor comes after a stellar performance this fall, posting a 7-4 singles record and 2-2 doubles mark heading into this weekend's ITA Fall National Championships.
Kilani earned a runner-up finish at the ITA Central Regional at Tulsa's own Michael D. Case Tennis Center in October. The Tunisia native added a 5-1 mark in the tournament, taking down No. 67 Artur Dubinski of Oklahoma State in the process.
In late September at the ITA All-American Championships, the senior picked up wins against two nationally-ranked opponents, defeating No. 14 Tim Sandkaulen (Ole Miss), 7-5, 6-2, and No. 31 Daniel Cukierman (USC), 6-4, 6-4.
He is currently participating against the nation's best at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Arizona, where yesterday Kilani fell to Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore (MTSU), 6-2, 2-6, 3-6, but picked up a walkover win today.
