The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 78-41 decision to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon at Saint Ursula Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio.  TU fell to 9-17 on the season and 3-10 in American Athletic Conference play, while UC moved to 16-10 overall and 8-5 in the league.

"We couldn't score, we kept turning the ball over and at the first timeout we had just two shot attempts, and they kept getting offensive rebounds," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "We wanted to be good in defensive transition, box out and keep control of the ball, and we didn't do that.  After the first quarter we started boxing out and getting shot opportunities, but just not enough."

Crystal Polk led Tulsa with 10 points, while Morgan Brady finished with nine and Rebecca Lescay added six points.  Lescay and Tyjae' Scales each had a team-best six rebounds.

Cincinnati had a 44-26 lead in rebounds, a 15-7 advantage in assists and a 9-3 lead in steals, while Tulsa had a 4-2 edge in blocks.

The Golden Hurricane shot just 31-percent from the field, including 17-percent from three-point range and 66-percent (4-of-6) from the free throw line, while the Bearcats shot 46-percent from the field, 61-percent from behind the arc and 58-percent (14-of-24) from the charity stripe.

Tulsa had five turnovers and no made field goals as the Bearcats jumped out to a 13-1 lead with 5:22 on the clock.  Crystal Polk made a free throw at the 6:37 mark and a field goal with 2:01 left to play as TU shot just 11-percent (1-of-9) in the first 10 minutes to trail 23-3.

Cincinnati outscored Tulsa, 16-14, in the second frame to take a 39-17 advantage into the break, and had a 17-15 edge in the third frame for a 56-32 score.

The Bearcats scored 22 points in the final frame compared to the Hurricane's nine for the 37-point victory.

Four Cincinnati players scored in double figures, including Ana Owens (13), Antoinette Miller (11), Shanice Johnson (10) and Nikira Goings (10), while Johnson and Iimar'i Thomas both had nine rebounds.

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, February 20 against ECU.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
