Goodger and Kilani Collect Wins, but Tulsa Falls to No. 30 Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Joshua Goodger and Majed Kilani picked up singles match victories Wednesday, at the McLeod Tennis Center, but Tulsa (10-16) fell to No. 30 Texas Tech (18-7), 5-2.

Connor Curry and Ilgiz Valiev knocked off Lucca Baptista and Majed Kilani, 6-3, in the No. 2 doubles match. In the No. 1 match, Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya upset the
No. 62 duo of Joshua Goodger and Jarod Hing, 7-5. The Red Raiders held a 1-0 lead as the match went to singles play.

The No. 120 ranked Tommy Mylnikov won the opening set of the No. 2 singles match, 6-1, against the No. 102 ranked Goodger. Goodger was unfazed and bounced back in the second, as he bested Mylnikov, 7-6 (7-3). Goodger used the momentum of the second set and claimed a 6-3 victory in the final set. Goodger improved to 14-7 in dual match competition.

In the No. 1 singles match, Sendegeya took the opening set against the No. 114 Kilani, 6-2. Kilani was resilient and claimed the second set, 7-5. In the final set, Kilani won 10-3. The final set was a super tiebreaker due to the match being clinched by Texas Tech. Kilani moved to 14-6 in dual match play.

Curry defeated Hing, 6-3 and 6-3, in the No. 3 singles match. Valiev knocked off Baptista, 6-3, 3-6, and 6-1, at the No. 4 position. Artem Kapshuk claimed a 6-4 and 6-3 victory over Mitchell Pritchard in the No. 5 match. Matheus Leite bested Boriss Kamdem in the No. 6 spot, 4-6, 6-4, and 6-1.

The Golden Hurricane wraps up the regular season with a trip to Dallas, Texas, for a matchup with the SMU Mustangs on Friday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m.
