ORLANDO, Fla. — The University of Tulsa senior Jaleel Wheeler was named a First Team Academic Momentum Award recipient by the Scholar-Baller program, the organization announced today.
Wheeler, who is a two-year letterwinner and recently completed his eligibility on the court for the Golden Hurricane, is one of eight male and female first-team award recipients from National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) partner schools across the nation. Top nominations were categorized into three teams based on each student-athlete's academic improvement and the impact each student-athlete's academic performance had on his or her classmates, teammates, academic advisors and professors.
A Newark, N.J., native, Wheeler will graduate with a degree in Exercise & Sport Science. On the court he appeared in 61 games with 41 starts over two seasons at TU. Wheeler totaled 417 points and 240 rebounds, while he scored in double-figures 17 times and led TU in scoring four times.
