
Tulsa’s Tari Cummings Returns to UAFS as Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Tari Cummings, Tulsa women's basketball assistant coach for the 2017-18 season, was announced today as the Head Coach for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lady Lions. Cummings returns to UAFS where she served as an assistant coach for four years (2003-07) and played for two (1997-99).
At Tulsa, Cummings worked with the forwards and served as the academic liaison. In 2017-18 TU posted 10 wins.
Cummings played two seasons at Arkansas-Fort Smith (formerly Westark College) in 1997-99, where she helped the team record a seventh-place NJCAA National Tournament finish in 1998 and earned All-America honors in 1999. AT UAFS, she tallied 1,262 points for third-place in program history and was inducted into the UA-Fort Smith (Westark College) Hall of Fame in 2013. Cummings then finished her eligibility at Oklahoma State, where she earned All-Big 12 honors in 2002, averaging 13.1 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game.
Cummings served as an assistant coach at Arkansas from 2011-17, helping the Razorbacks post a 116-82 mark and advance to the postseason three of the six seasons. She also was an assistant at Houston (2009-11) and Cincinnati (2007-09).
