Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Begins Regular Season in Michigan

The Tulsa men's soccer team will begin the 2018 campaign in the state of Michigan, taking on both #4 Michigan State and #15 Michigan.

This marks just the 10th time in Coach Tom McIntosh's 24 years at the helm that the Golden Hurricane will begin the season on the road

TU returns 16 letterwinners, including eight starters, and welcomes 10 newcomers this season. In exhibition play, the Golden Hurricane earned 3-0 wins over SIUE and John Brown, and a 1-0 victory over Central Arkansas. Miguel Velasquez had two Tulsa goals, while Chase Bromstedt, Adam Habib, Harris Partain, Austen Schweinert and Thomas Wells each added one score. Cooper Clark logged 135 minutes in goal, Bryson Reed played 90, Brady Moody recorded 30 minutes and Lucas Cline had 15 minutes between the posts to combine for the three shutouts

Michigan enters the season ranked as high as #15 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, but also ranked #17 in College Soccer News and #21 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Wolverines recorded a 12-6-2 overall record last season, captured the Big Ten Regular Season Championship and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago. This will be the first meeting for Tulsa and Michigan on the men's soccer pitch.

Michigan State enters the season ranked as high as #4 in the College Soccer News poll, but also ranks #7 in United Soccer Coaches, #9 in Top Drawer Soccer and #10 in HeroSports. MSU posted a 13-4-4 mark last year and advanced to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight. TU's only meeting with Michigan State came in 2004 when Tulsa picked up a 3-1 win in the NCAA Championship First Round.
